63. Discipline is Destiny
"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments." - Jim Rohn
Big news!!!
I co-authored “Peak Performance: Mindset Tools for Sales” which launched this week.
The book is packed full of strategies that will take your sales to the next level.
My co-authors include elite sales coaches, consultants, business owners and top sellers from real estate, commercial products and professional services.
Super excited to be part of this project!
The book was released yesterday and is available on Amazon for $0.99 during the launch.
It’s guaranteed to increase your sales performance.

“Impact is when 24 sales experts from around the world gather to write a book on sales performance…sales success.”
Fuck, that’s a high bar to live up to!
In February Erik Seversen messaged me on LinkedIn about taking part in a book project.
Me?
At that time I’d been writing publicly for less than a year.
After a 30 minute Zoom call I agreed to take part in the project.
I had 8 weeks to write a 2500 word chapter on one aspect of sales.
Unlike many of my co-authors, I’m not a sales professional.
But I have started and scaled a handful of businesses, all which need sales.
I decided to write about the key to achieving your biggest goals - in business, sales and life.
Discipline.

THE BIG IDEA
The Importance of Self Discipline
Discipline is having a mindset and the ability to get things done, no matter what.
The most successful people use discipline and deep-seated motivation to achieve their goals.
In Discipline Equals Freedom, Jocko Willink outlines four reasons why you need discipline:
Discipline makes you the master of yourself. Discipline helps you take control over your thoughts and actions.
Discipline makes you healthier. By taking control of your actions, you have the power to resist unhealthy temptations.
Discipline helps you reach your goals and realise your full potential. Discipline makes you take control of your life.
Discipline makes you happier. You achieve happiness by earning it.
To begin developing discipline, you need to find a reason why you want to improve.
Who are the people and what are the goals that drive you?
You need a reason why you want to make a change.
Once you have a reason, you need to decide how you’re going to change.
When you’ve identified your drive, decide how you’re going to achieve your goal.
Break it down into small steps and take action to complete those steps every day.
Developing Sales Discipline
When I started my cleaning business, I wasn’t a natural at sales.
It was a skill I had to develop.
I had to learn new skillsets and develop different attributes.
That meant focusing on the most important sales activities every day—prospecting, cold calls and emails, qualifying, and following up.
I developed five sales disciplines to win new clients:
The discipline of prospecting. Over the long term, sales results are the product of your prospecting.
The discipline of nurturing. Provide value up front and build relationships that end up creating sales opportunities.
The discipline of following up. Show clients that you can be counted on when they need you to deliver.
The discipline of improvement. Client’s don’t care what you did for them yesterday. They want to know what you’re doing for them today. That’s why you constantly need to improve your service.
The discipline of personal development. Always Be Learning. Invest time and effort in the most valuable asset you have - you!
I committed the these 5 sales disciplines every day and took 100% responsibility for the outcomes - good or bad.
Goals are important. They direct action and provide deadlines.
Discipline is different.
It means taking action every day.
Discipline is the driver that makes you do the hard things necessary to reach your goals.
It’s easier to be effective in business when you develop discipline.
