21: Is Relationship Marketing An Underestimated Strategy For Growing Your Cleaning Business?
The simple approach works.
A lot of owner-operators don’t like networking and pressing the flesh.
They see it as a chore.
I had a great chat with Josh Melton, CEO of Athens Cleaning, about how he uses relationship marketing to build a seven-figure cleaning business.
On The Growth Lab podcast Josh shared some great tips on joining communities to win new clients and why building relationships is the cornerstone for the growth of his cleaning business.
1. Relationships are an important part of your cleaning business
One of the best things you can do to generate leads is building relationships and community involvement. Join networking organisations like BNI or your local Chamber of Commerce. The key is showing up consistently, don’t just go once. Build your business relationship network.
2. Simple works. It does.
If you build enough relationships and you’re good to people, reciprocation will flow from your efforts. Don’t over complicate things. Follow one course until successful. Win with one approach before you start adding other elements.
3. Do you have a relationship with your client?
When you treat clients with respect and value it builds trust, which helps you maintain a positive relationship. It’s easy to fire a company you don’t know. When you invest time and effort into building client relationships, they’re more prepared to give you a second chance.
4. Developing customer relationships is a stumbling block for cleaning businesses
Developing good customer relationships should be a core value of the business. For a lot of cleaning businesses, customer relationships are transactional. They carry out the clean and if there’s a problem, they’ll wait to find out from the client.
5. Good communication is a non-negotiable skill for growing your cleaning business
If you don’t know how to talk to people, you’re going to struggle building good relationships that help grow your business. Learning how to communicate effectively helps you generate leads, close deals, develop client relationships and lead your team effectively.
This is the tip of the iceberg of what Josh shared on my podcast. It’s a really insightful session on how to building relationships to grow your cleaning business.
